Today is National HIV Testing Day and all across the country people are being encouraged to get tested and find out their HIV/AIDS status.
Yesterday, Trilogy and some of our healthcare partners—Chicago House, Rush University College of Nursing, Heartland Health Centers, and Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW)—hosted our first annual Passport to Wellness Fair! More than 100 Trilogy clients, employees, and Beacon consumers picked up their wellness passports and traveled through our fun, educational, campus-wide event, where they had the opportunity to learn about managing their health through informative presentations and health screenings.
December 1, 2012 will mark the 24th Anniversary of the first World AIDS Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. According to the World AIDS Campaign website, “this year’s World AIDS Day is about “Getting to Zero” by 2015 – Zero AIDS Related Deaths, Zero New Infections and Zero Discrimination. The current facts:
- More than 25 million people have died from AIDS and complications from HIV infection. Although rates of new infections have decreased by 20 percent since 2001, an estimated 2.5 million people contracted HIV in 2011.
