About Trilogy: Programs, Initiatives and Partnerships

Evanston Collaborative Housing Program

Through the generous funding of The Richard C. and Margaret V. Romano Charitable Trust and the Evanston Mental Health Board, the Collaborative Housing Program was created in Evanston, IL. Trilogy, Connections for the Homeless, and the McGaw YMCA partnered in 2008 to create a housing program that serves the needs of the most vulnerable members of Evanston’s adult male population.

Connections for the Homeless, through their Entry Point street outreach program, have identified area homeless men with mental illness who might benefit from the program. Trilogy staff visit Hilda's Place, at Lake Street Church on a regular basis in order to get to know these men, build a trusting relationship  and engage their interest in the program. The McGaw YMCA has been helpful in offering a significant rent adjustment, to help us stretch the client assistance funds we have via Romano family's generosity and the support of the City of Evanston.

The Collaborative Housing Program is making a positive impact. As of October 2008, the first resident was placed in the YMCA and is currently receiving case management, psychiatric and other supportive services. The goal is to screen a minimum of eight men per year, provide supportive services to as many as need them, and to house two men as we help them to stabilize psychiatrically, apply for entitlements, help them look for supported employment or other useful community based pursuits.
