RISE

TRILOGY makes a promise to each person we serve: that we’ll do all we can to help them move forward in their recovery. To stay stable and out of the hospital. Out of jail. Alive. Regardless of their ability to pay for services.

Trilogy supports clients through a variety of funding sources, like grants and Medicaid reimbursements. These funds cover core services like therapy, housing, and intensive intervention, but they don’t cover everything.

The ability to cover rent, pay bills and have some food in the fridge are essential to a person’s ability to focus on mental health recovery. When a person’s income is limited to a social security check, like many of the people we serve, there’s simply no ability to absorb an unexpected expense. There’s no emergency fund.

Like all of us, Trilogy clients have basic needs: Food and clothing. A pair of shoes. Laundry detergent. Help covering a utility bill or paying rent.

So while there’s always been a gap between what clients need and what grant funds will cover, Trilogy has always done all we can to bridge this gap. Because these basic needs are essential to a person’s ability to stay on the path to recovery.

Imagine someone facing a mental health crisis while experiencing homelessness. Now, imagine them finding the support they need to stabilize and work on their sobriety goals. Imagine their elation when they finally find a place to live. Now, try to imagine that an unexpected expense means they miss paying a bill. They fall behind on rent. An expense can quickly become a crisis. Their progress is stripped away. They fall through the cracks because they fell a few dollars short.

We can’t imagine this. And likely neither can you.

These costs are what many would call incidentals. But to our clients, they make all the difference in the world. We cover these expenses because the people we serve have come too far in their recovery to fail because they’re a few dollars short and can’t afford to keep going. For a person with serious mental illness, experiencing homelessness, and living with a chronic health issue on little to no income, any expense is significant. And the majority of people Trilogy serves – 95% – have extremely limited income, or no income at all.

Until now, this gap has been mostly manageable. But funding cuts are making it harder than ever.

Trilogy has been able to ensure that our core services are protected and that clients receive the therapy and intervention they need. But the people we serve are counting on us for help. That’s why we’re introducing a new fund: Resources for Independence, Stability and Empowerment. Trilogy’s RISE Fund will help clients remain stable and move forward. Your contribution will help people RISE.

We’ve created this list to give you an idea of just a few of the essential needs that clients need to stay on the path to recovery.
